Dublar Char is an island in Bangladesh located in the Bagerhat District of the Khulna Division.
Another important place in the Chandpai Range is Dublar Char. Dubla is an isolated island between the rivers Kunga and Mara Pashur. Here red-breasted kingfisher, Lesser adjutant birds can be seen. One aspect of the beauty here is the view of deer grazing.
Dublar Char is basically a fishing village. After fishing hilsa in the monsoon season, many fishermen camped for four months here from Cox’s Bazar, Chittagong, Bagerhat, Pirojpur, Khulna and Satkhira. These four months they are busy making the fish dry. The dried fishes extracted from here are stockpiled and sold in the wholesale market of Asadganj in Chittagong.
The island is also famous for Hindu festivals. Although it is said that this Rasmela has been going on for 200 years, it is known that in 1923, a forest devotee of Harichand Tagore, named Haribhajan (1829-1923), started this fair. Every year many devotees come here to bathe on the occasion of Raspurnima. Seeing the sunrise on Dublar Char, the devotees floated the fruits in the sea water. Some people play musical instruments and sing bhajans and kirtans. Apart from the locals, people from far and wide and even foreign tourists spontaneously take part in the Dublar Char Rasmela. The three-day fair also attracts a large number of foreign tourists. There are launches at night and in the morning.
