The Taka Museum is located on the second floor of the Bangladesh Bank Training Academy in Mirpur, Dhaka District, Bangladesh. Taka Museum was established in 2013. The Currency Museum was originally opened in 2009 in the main building of Bangladesh Bank. The Taka Museum is actually it extension and modern look. Money and paper notes of different periods from ancient Bengal to modern times have been stored and displayed in this museum.

The money tree has been made on the left side wall of the entrance of the museum. The structure of the building is shaped like a tree with steel structures, which are decorated with copies of coins of different times.
The second floor is arranged in two galleries. The illustrated presentation of the evolutionary history of the use of money in the Indian subcontinent is like the first gallery showcases. The first showcase contains stamped silver coins used from the 4th century BC to the 2nd century BC.
The exhibition of Gallery No. 2 of the Taka Museum has been arranged in coins of different countries. Paper notes and coins of different countries of the world including China, Afghanistan, Cambodia, Haiti, Bahrain, New Zealand can be seen here. After seeing the money of such countries, you can become a millionaire by printing your picture on your country’s Lakh taka note for only 50 taka. The Money Museum has souvenir shops too.
Ticket prices and schedules
The Taka Museum is open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., except Thursdays and public holidays. Only on Fridays is it open from 4pm to 6pm. It does not require a ticket to visit or enter, absolutely free. Weekly closed Thursdays.
How to get there
You have to go directly from anywhere in Dhaka to Mirpur-1 or Mirpur-10. From there you can walk to the Museum on foot, by rickshaw or by other local bus. Rickshaw fare from Mirpur-1 or Mirpur-10 is 15-20 taka.
Visitors: Since the inauguration of Taka Museum on 05 October, 2013 a number of visitors including School children, VIPs from home and abroad and many others have visited Taka Museum.
Prohibition: Bearing food, gold ornaments and any kind of arms or explosives are strictly prohibited in Taka Museum..
